Lamborghini Estoque Concept

The expectation is that the car will be greenlighted, but Winkelmann insists the show car does not have a platform for production at this time. While it is similar in size to an Audi A8, the front-mid location of the Estoque’s engine precludes sharing here. The CEO will not address the idea of pairing up with Porsche’s Panamera, which marks that company’s first foray into the sedan market. It may make sense, however, given that Porsche owns a chunk of the Volkswagen Group which includes Audi—and Audi owns Lamborghini. Winkelmann will only say that a platform will be sought “within the group.” That could also include an all-new architecture, one that could perhaps underpin future Bentleys.

The Volkswagen Group offers a selection of powertrains as well. The most obvious choice for the Estoque is the 5.2-liter V-10 in the Gallardo LP560-4, and a turbocharged version of that engine with eight cylinders has also been proposed.
